How I Fit a Downtube Underside Protection Sticker (Written instructions)
BEFORE YOU BEGIN:
PLEASE NOTE: Stickers do not like sticking to cold surfaces. Fit your stickers in a warm room.
STEP 1. Use a microfibre cloth, and isopropyl alcohol spray to thoroughly clean where the sticker is going to be applied. Make sure it’s super clean!
STEP 2. In a spray bottle mix 400ml of purified water and one teaspoon of baby shampoo. Spray a light mist spray of the baby shampoo/water mix on your hands, then on the area you’re applying the sticker and then on the adhesive side of the sticker (This will prevent finger prints on the stickers). If too much of the baby shampoo mix is used, the sticker will take longer to dry.
STEP 3. Apply the sticker, use a squeegee and/or your fingers and start to squeeze out the bubbles and excess water. Be patient and persistent with the sticker, the bubbles will come out and as the water mix starts to dry the sticker will start to stick. If the sticker lifts, keep pressing it down, it will stick.
STEP 4. Once the sticker has been applied, to get a super stick use a heatgun/hairdryer to warm up the sticker. It should not be melting hot, it should be 21 degree Celsius (69 Fahrenheit) for a great fit. Keep rubbing down on the sticker whilst doing this. It activates the glue even more for optimal stick.
STEP 5. Once fitted and all work is done, keep the stickers dry and warm for 24 hours, this allows the glue to fully activate. TIPS: – Don’t rush the job, take your time. – If using Invisiframe or Ridewrap, fit these before you apply the downtube sticker. This prevents air pockets along the edge of the sticker.
